Harold Arandia
On Saturday April 14th, the exhibition “Whispered Moments”/ Momentos Murmurados” by Harold Arandia starts.

The subject matter for this new series of work focuses on key moments in ones life and the memory of those events. Fleeting moments, where a million things may have been going on but are instantly imbedded with specific details, colors, and iconography. It is through this filter that these “Whispered Moments” become part of a personal mythology of one’s life.
The images themselves are playful, yet sour; print like and yet painterly in texture, all at the same time. There is a sincerity revealed in such sure detail in the painting and yet contrasted with the forgotten particulars that have been erased away. This is a portrayal of truth, not necessarily as it happened but as it is remembered and in remembering finding clarity through the chaos.
Since graduating from Art Center College of Design Harold has worked with companies such as Mattel and Adidas. He has designed footwear, furniture, and has even made his own line of handcrafted chocolates. Through all this work he has always made time to paint and sketch.
Urban art, graphic design, old storybooks, folklore and mythology are just a few things that inspire him.“ My work can be child like in a sense but there is usually a hidden sourness which is masked within a smiley face, even if only I can see it”. Harold is a Bolivian –American and currently lives and works in Amsterdam.
