GO Gallery opent op zaterdag 16 augustus 2008, om 17.00 uur, de expositie  Aerosol Symphonies deel II.
Op de expositie Aerosol Symphonies (Aerosol = spuitbus), worden de werelden van klassieke muziek en moderne kunst/street-art bij elkaar gebracht. 25 kunstenaars hebben zich laten inspireren door een klassiek muziekstuk. Deze muziek, het ontstaan en het verhaal ervan, is grondig bestudeerd. Naar dit muziekstuk hebben de kunstenaars vervolgens een eigen kunstwerk gecomponeerd. De deelnemende kunstenaars zijn:
Laser 3.14 (co-curator), Two Things, Maoma, Modderfokker, The London Police, SIT, Juice, Peter Pontiac, Def P, Hugo Kaagman, Blade, Quik, Weazel, Wayne Horse, L’estoir, Pleasant, The Hope Box, Faith 47, Michan, Roos de Waal, Dopie, Casroc , Riccardo Cavalleri, Barnocky, e.a.  
  
De Finse zangeres/violiste Mirella Pirskanen zal op de opening optreden. Zij kreeg internationale bekendheid met haar optredens in o.a. Cirque du Soleil, Holiday on Ice en met Flairck.  
  
De expositie duurt tot medio oktober.

Beethoven’s Fifth and obvious LAST child.
 
I do not think I will ever witness perfection in music. I know this is perfection I hear. If perfection be that than which there can be no better. But I cannot witness Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony". I can only experience it. It's perfect! 

Weazel:

Intriguing isn't it, the way we are?
Produced from experience and mixed emotion 
Each one of us is unique 
Yet we remain components within the creation 
Of the Symphonie Mechanique 
 

I find it beguiling, 
To watch in motion the components of mechanized device
Designed to create an abstract notion like time
Which can often become a vice
Timing created for every sound
For a composition about eternity
The notes in turn find their place
All important parts
Of a profound Mechanical Symphony 
  

We are souls with a mask we call a face 
The variety of forms are vast
The pieces contained within
Are not from the same cast
We are complex yet very simple

L'estoir.

De opera vertelt het verhaal over een arme man Nemorino, die verliefd wordt op een rijke dame Adina. Nemorino is bang dat Adina verliefd is op een ander.  Hij koopt bij een marktkoopman een liefdes elixer waar hij alles wat hij heeft voor betaald. Niet wetend dat het alleen maar rode wijn is.
 

Toch trouwt Adina met een ander. Op de dag van de trouwerij wil Nemorino nog meer elixer kopen alleen heeft hij geen geld meer. Hij tekent een contract voor het leger om onmiddellijk aan geld te komen om nog meer elixer te kopen. Niet wetend dat hij veel geld heeft geerft van een overleden oom. De vrouwen van het dorp schijnen het al gehoord te hebben en geven hem veel aandacht. Nemorino denkt dat het elixer werkt. Hij biecht alles op aan Adina, die zo ontroerd is dat ze voor hem valt. Nemorino krijgt zo toch nog zijn liefde.
 

Jij die s`nachts mijn nek streelt in afwezigheid..

Lakens opwaaiend en mij berust in gemis….  

Licht als een bries vul je mijn ziel.. met hartstocht en warmte fluister je ons levenslied..  

Groeven zo diep…

Classical Music Helps Us Feel Intelligent 1-3.

This series of paintings is not inspired by one classical song in particular, but by a popular view on classical music as such. Just like it is nearly impossible to eat a banana without a certain 'hang loose' attitude it is difficult to listen to classical music without a selfrighteous sense of being sophisticated.

The music of the gods. Classical music equals a sophisticated, well off life. While hopefully not intended that way, it became the image of the music.

People use this image as a mask, listen to classical music not only, but also for the connected values.

Still, if these values are in the music, they transfer to whoever is listening to it. The aim of these paintings was to take classic music out of its holy throne and face  the impact it has on us. Part two of this work will be a cd containing twelve techno remixes of the most renown classical music. This project will be sponsored by RedBull.   And pepsi max.

"Trilogy"

The black and white painting is created in 3 stages based on 3 different symphonies.

1st: Alan Petterson, Symphony no 7.

Expressive dark strokes on blank canvas. 

2nd:     Antonin Dvorack, New world symphony no 9. White lineair random patterns using stencils. 

3rd:     Philip Glass, Rubric. Black and white lines constructed with masking tape. 

In the end it turned out to be quite a never-ending process. 

Unfortunatly it wasn't  captured on film and animated along the music.
