Chrys' work is about the figure and the landscape, about 'nomads' and travelers of both kilometric continents and inner worlds, as the artist herself is precisely such a traveler. Chrys looks at the historic origins of the art of the Northern European Romantics. They were the first to portray solitary figures in contemplation before awesome and boundless facets of nature. Chrys maintains the tension between human presence and environment. Figure and landscape are not described in detail but rather alluded to. Her work further involves the lowering of barely perceptible horizons, a variety of angels and viewpoints, silhouette sketching, figures standing and, more often, walking. Keep Walking - but where to?
