Espen Greger Hagen was born in Trondheim in 1964.
From 1980 onwards he studied drawing in Trondheim, painting and sculpture at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, which he successfully completed in 1990.
Espen was famous for his Indian paintings. This canvas, a portrait of Elvis, is therefore very unique for his oeuvre. The painting is made in 1994 with spray paint and acrylic paint on black cotton. It was the my private collection since then, now it has to move on to another art lover.
From the mid-1990s, Hagen collaborated with good friend Herman Brood, with whom he exhibited together several times. Hagen, known for his Indian portraits, is often mentioned as his successor.
Espen died in 2008.
The painting can be viewed in the GO Gallery.
