Sunil Padwal, ‘of course’

This installation of Mumbai based Indian artist Sunil Padwal, is inspired by World press photo – 3^rd prize stories Photographer – Lucian Read, USA. These men are from Kilo Company 3^rd Battalion, 1^st Marines – an infantry Company in the Marine Corps that served its third deployment in Iraq.

The dog tag is a neo-colonialist emblem of slavery. The wearer of this tag loses his individuality and becomes a cog in the wheel of the unstoppable machine of mass destruction.
