Between Pain and Pleasure, a solo exhibition by Ard Doko. May 25th, 2019

Almost 10 years ago a young guy entered the GO Gallery.
He made graffiti, on walls and roofs, on canvases and in fact on everything where he could spray graffiti.
Ard Doko was his name, and wanted to exhibit at the GO Gallery, because they did graffiti there, he heard ...
Ard was advised by us to continue painting and to come back in a few years.

Years later, Ard Doko did indeed return.
His career rocketed.
The artist from Callantsoog exhibits frequently in the US and Europe. In 2015, Doko exhibited in Museum De Fundatie. Nick and Simon invited 12 Dutch artists to be inspired by the songs on their new album. Magnificent!
He has developed himself and his painting rapidly. Ard created and improved his own style, something he is still working on.
His style is melancholic, dark and psychedelic with multiple layers of interpretation, and themes ranging from the beauty of life to death and destruction.
In an interview he said: "My style is often explosive and chaotic, just like me."

His new collection of paintings is called "Between Pain and Pleasure".
The collection is a tribute to the conflict between mind and heart that perhaps everyone has experienced in his life. Like abstract art, love is hard to understand and create, but when it is achieved, it will stand the test of time. In this exhibition the artist combines his love for Russian abstract art (from artists such as Malevich and Kandinksy) with his personal diary, and thoughts and expectations for the future. The works are all inspired by the people he met during his life, or stories about people dear to him. With these exhibitions, he hopes to prove to the skeptics in love that it is wrong, and also to give a reality check to those who dream of romantic Disney miracles.

28 Stars, a European Art Show

We would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition
28 STARS European Art Show
at the GO Gallery, Amsterdam
Opening: on Saturday, January 26, from 5 – 8 pm.
On display until March 16

The 28 STARS European Art Show is an exhibition in collaboration with Amsterdam Street Art, ASA

28 works by 28 artists will be shown during the 28 STARS European Art Show. Every country from the EU is represented by a Street Artist. The show shows a combination of established artists and up-and-coming talents, each with its own and special style.
The majority of the European line-up shows their work for the first time in the Netherlands.

The 28 STARS European Art Show is unique because all works are printed on Fabriano paper. Arca is responsible for all prints of the exhibition, they print the works on the paper of Innova Art, the famous Fabriano paper.
The paper ensures brilliant color reproduction and a long shelf life.
The Innova factory in Italy is the oldest paper factory in Europe.
The factory supplied paper to Leonardo da Vinci as early as the 15th century. The paper of our euro notes is also made by this factory.

All works are limited edition and are printed in A2 format in an edition of 11 (10 numbered and 1 AP). All artworks have the same sales price of € 190, – and include a certificate signed by the artists. A unique opportunity and a perfect opportunity for (novice) art collectors as the prices of the selected artists are normally much higher.

28 STARS European Union Art Show – Same size, price, quality and edition.

GO Gallery organizes annually together with ASA, Amsterdam Street Art Foundation,
a Street Art exhibition with several artists.
The Foundation, founded in 2010, aims among other things to support starting and established Street Artists with assignments, promotion and exhibitions at home and abroad. Since its inception, ASA has exhibited 200 national and international artists in the Netherlands and commissioned projects.
ASA has a reach of more than 400,000 followers on Facebook; it is one of the largest Street Art organizations worldwide.

AS SOON AS THE EXHIBITION OPENS, WE WILL SHOW ALL 28 ARTWORKS.

Kevin Ledo’s Beirut project for AptART

Ledo grew up in a mix of urban and ethnic cultures in Montreal, raised by Portuguese parents from the Azores Islands. While art and painting have always been part of his life, his artistic practice officially started in 2005. Firmly grounded in classical painting techniques and materials while plugged into contemporary perspectives, Ledo also brings his elegant, often stylized approach of realism to walls, both indoor and outdoor; using everything from oil and acrylic paint, to spray paint, and gold leaf.
He has participated in several mural festivals and public art initiatives in Canada and around the world, such as MURAL in Montreal, PangeaSeed Sea Walls in Toronto, FIAP in Cancún, AptART in Jordan and Lebanon, The Raw Project in Miami and Denver, and recently at Street Prints in Christchurch and Mount Maunganui, New Zealand; among others.
The exhibition “The Impeccable Bunch” will open on Saturday 12 May 2018.
