Exhibition ‘PINK with PRIDE 2017’

Finally we moved to our brand new gallery, not far from where we were located for 20 years: Marnixstraat 127 in Amsterdam.
The new location is still in the Jordaan, but much easier to access with public transport from Central Station and all other directions of the city (bus & tram stop across the gallery). We’re very happy being in this great authentic neighbourhood and our fantastic neighbours of ‘Duende Dos’, the famous Spanish tapas restaurant on the corner of Nieuwe Willemsstraat.

Our first exhibition is ‘PINK with PRIDE’, our annual Amsterdam GayPride exhibition. This exhibition shows the works of some young international talents, opening on Saturday July 15, 5 – 8 pm.
You will be welcomed by the Brothers Grimm.

Chris Marmier shows his new collection ‘Every day people..’  a humorous view on peoples lives.
Giulia Pelizzaro Her artworks are mainly inspired by Street Art and doodle styles, she tells about ordinary situations towards contemporary lifestyles.
Johan Ganpat Brouwer is the widower of Sanjay, an Amsterdam icon who passed away last year. Johan used the ashes to paint Sanjay’s portraits. All proceeds from sales will go towards foundation in Surinam to help improve the living conditions of LGBT and HIV community.

Peter Berlin’s solo show for Euro Pride will feature a stimulating collection of unique and hand edited vintage photographs and newer prints, where the artist portrays himself as the world’s first Selfie-photographer in erotic poses, both naked and clothed, in skin-tight outfits that he used to create for the shoots that left little to the imagination.

If I were to describe my artwork I would say that its comic book inspired but that doesn’t really do the justice it deserves. I do have an obsession with all things comic book that started at a very young age. Reading about people who felt different and didn’t fit in with the world around them allowed me to become comfortable with my inner self and see that true courage comes from self-belief. This need for stories about Superheroes dealing with everyday life got me through my teenage years. The adventures kept me hooked each month but it was the artwork that I fell in love with. Becoming an Illustrator was my dream and now in my 30s it has become very much part of the driving force behind everything I do. Taking a blank page and filling it with life is an amazing gift. And like the comic book that increases in value over time my art has grown as I’ve matured. ‘Cowboys & Crows’ is a collection of pen and ink drawings that focus on the iconic image of the great wild-west hero. To me the image of the Cowboy transcends both heterosexual and homosexual fantasy. He invokes a feeling of strength, courage, fatherhood and adventure. Whether he’s gay or straight, old or young he is an archetypal man. This is my 1st exhibition with the GO Gallery. Opening: Sunday, 28th of july 2013, 4-7 pm. Closing: Sunday, 8th of September The exhibition is part of the annual PINK with PRIDE exhibitions at GO Gallery.
